Our biggest lesson from 20 years in the industry

By Justine & Phil · 4 August 2026 · 4 min read

If you'd asked us 20 years ago what it takes to build a successful business in this profession, we'd have given you a list. The right company. The right products. A good script. A big warm market. A thick skin. All useful — but none of them were the real answer.

The real answer took us years to see clearly, and it's this: the people who succeed long-term are the ones who stay consistent long after the excitement wears off.

Consistency beats intensity

Almost everyone can go hard for a week. A lot of people can go hard for a month. Very few can quietly keep showing up — sharing, learning, supporting their team — for a year, then two, then five. But that's where the results live.

We've watched incredibly talented people burn out in six months. And we've watched people with no natural sales ability build something remarkable, simply because they never stopped.

What consistency actually looks like

  • A handful of genuine conversations each week — not a hundred cold messages.
  • Turning up to team calls even when you don't feel like it.
  • Using the products yourself so your recommendation is real.
  • Following up kindly, without chasing.
  • Learning something small every week and applying it.

None of that is glamorous. None of it goes viral. But compounded over a year or two, it changes lives.

Why most people quit before it clicks

The hardest part isn't the work — it's the gap between effort and reward. Network marketing pays like farming, not like a wage. You plant, you water, you wait. Then one season, everything you've planted starts producing at once.

Most people quit in the waiting. If we could go back and tell our younger selves one thing, it would be this: trust the process, and don't measure success in weeks.

The people who make it aren't the most gifted — they're the ones who were still standing when the results finally caught up.

The good news

Consistency is a skill anyone can learn. You don't need charisma, a big following, or years of experience. You need a reason strong enough to keep going, and people around you who've walked the road before. That's the whole game — and it's exactly why the mentorship side of what we do matters so much to us.

If you're thinking about starting something of your own, don't ask whether you're good enough. Ask whether you're willing to keep going when it's quiet. If the answer is yes, you're already further ahead than most.
